About Dr. Firmin

Dr. Firmin has extensive clinical training, receiving her PhD in clinical psychology from Purdue University at Indianapolis, with her clinical internship year at Yale School of Medicine and postdoctoral fellowships at UCLA & Brown University.

She previously served as clinical faculty at Brown University, providing individual & group therapy to those with a wide variety of mental health conditions, and then joined McLean Hospital / Harvard Medical School in the OnTrack clinic, helping young adults & their families as they navigated significant mental health challenges.

Now on faculty at Gordon College, she teaches and conducts research on factors that promote resilience, help individuals with mental health conditions stay immune to stigma, and how faith communities can better support those experiencing mental health challenges.
